January 23 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm$15
At 31 years old, Jose Ramirez is Costa Rica’s Premier Blues Artist and has played with some of the biggest names in the Blues industry including Anson Funderburgh, who will join him for this featured performance. Jose experienced the American Blues scene for a couple of years and played some of the best blues clubs in the country including Buddy Guy’s Legends and Rosa’s in Chicago and The Bradfordville Blues Club in Florida. He also played some of the largest Blues festivals in the US including The Washington DC Blues Festival. He did session work as a guitar player for Florida based singer Lauren Mitchell on her latest album recorded in Los Angeles California by award winning producer Tony Braunagel (Taj Mahal, Robert Cray, Bonnie Raitt). Jose was also a part of Panama’s annual Blues and Jazz festival held in Boquete Panama in February 2018 where he was backed up by the legendary Nighthawks (USA).
Anson Funderburgh has been an unstoppable force on the national blues circuit since his debut album with his Rockets, Talk To You By Hand, launched the New Orleans-based Black Top label in 1981. Anson became a professional musician at age 15, playing in a variety of local bands including Sound Cloud Reunion and the Bee’s Knees. “Because of a dance that was popular called the Texas Push, we always played shuffles,” notes Anson. “You had to do a bit of different styles of music for different things. Honestly, it was mostly blues. That’s the truth.”
